Combining over 30 years of expertise in the events and attractions industries, Darkside was formed in 2020 by founders David Rigby and Simon Casey. We are the behind-the-scenes creators; the workers in the ‘dark’. We create the systems that enable the feature presentation to shine.
Our roots lie in the wonder of theatre, never forgetting there’s a story to be told. We had grander ideas though, wanting to take those experiences beyond the proscenium and allow the curious to explore magical worlds.
What unites us is a passion for using innovation to support and drive the narrative, technology is the apparatus to help achieve the goal. We also understand the importance of reliability and strive to deliver experiences that just work, time after time. Split between our headquarters in London and a remote base near Liverpool, we’re perfectly positioned to cover your needs, wherever, whenever.
First gracing the theatre stage at the age of 3, David is a trained musician and spent his formative years playing in orchestras and bands. He studied at Mountview Academy, graduating with First-Class Honours in Production Arts specialising in Sound Design. Previous to founding Darkside, he worked on shows and live events in London’s West End, Wembley Stadium, Birmingham NEC, BBC Media City and Merlin Entertainments’ London attractions.
Mesmerised by Ghost Trains after a childhood fun fair visit, Simon’s had a passion for attractions ever since. He studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, graduating with a Graduate Diploma (Distinction) in Theatre Technical Arts. Previous to founding Darkside, he managed seasonal ‘show’ creation and maintenance at Merlin Entertainments’ London attractions, overseeing a team of twenty-five+ talented artists and audio visual technicians.
